Stuck

One old scarred soul
Wears on a city park-bench
With the bottle he needs to survive
Has never before
And probably will never ever
Lose his faith in the ties
Weaving the dream together, plays it once more
Again and again and again
Reminding him of the long lost times from before
And every long lost friend

Cannot find reason enough to live
And without breaking a single tear
He begs his daughter to forgive him
Every day every year
I should have been there
I should have stood there by your side
But I got lost somewhere
Between the darkness and shadows behind

Like every night
Anxiety colors his sleep and
Freedom is lost in sin
And every night
He tries to fight it but loses
His will is too weak to win
Chains down his mind in shackles
In body so frail
With thirst that won’t disappear
He trembles around in the darkness and cannot see
The bright way to get out of there

Cannot find reason enough to live
And without breaking a single tear
He begs his daughter to forgive him
Every day every year
I should have been there
I should have stood there by your side
But I got lost somewhere
Between the darkness and shadows behind
